Acoma Pueblo Manta. Embroidered Manta. Circa 1860. Size – 42″x 52″. Cochineal dyed Saxony wool yarn embroidered on indigo and dark brown diamond twill end bands. Green (indigo/vegetal) handspun outlines end bands. The main design pattern is red butterfly motifs, stylized rain clouds and angular blossoms/kiva stepped elements. Chain link zigzag border on sides. The main field is a diagonal twill in dark handspun brown wool. Ex – Jack Silverman Museum Collection. Minor restoration. – Exhibit at El Museo “Stands of Time” Santa Fe, August 2023
